SDS Announces Board of Directors for 2022

The Sudbury Design Society Annual General Meeting took place October 25 to review the nonprofit’s accomplishments over the last year and elect Directors to the board for 2022. 

The Sudbury Design Society (SDS) held their Annual General Meeting on October _____. The non-profit held the AGM to review their accomplishments over the last few years and to elect new members to the Board of Directors for 2022. 

Several SDS Members were re-elected to the Board at the AGM: Michela Langlois, Chantal Abdel-Nour, Davide Dorigo, Katarina Perkovic, and Cristina Cromeyer. The Sudbury Design Society is pleased to announce and welcome Marie-Soleil D Veilleux to the Board of Directors. 

SDS 2022 Board of Directors is:

  • 1st Vice-President: Chantal Abdel-Nour, Provisional RGD

It's been a year of flux that has challenged us all—designers included—to re-examine and re-work every aspect of our personal and professional lives. In 2021, DesignThinkers, Canada’s largest annual graphic design conference, is appropriately themed DesignReThinkers. This year's DIY, type-driven branding by Bruce Mau Design signals the urgency of our moment and everyone’s ability to participate in it.

Conference registration grants access to live, recorded and interactive programming; recordings of all sessions for 3 months after the event; access to an interactive platform with other event participants, speakers and panelists and a digital goodie bag.

 Join the RGD in November as they offer a forum for delegates to discuss and explore the ways design practice is being re-considered, re-defined and re-formed.

Sudbury Design Society Members are invited to attend our virtual Annual General Meeting.

This is the second year we’ll be hosting a virtual AGM which means that all members can join us from wherever you may be. The AGM will take place on Thursday, October 21st at 6:00 PM, via Zoom. All members are invited to hear about our recent accomplishments over the past year! The Board of Directors will be revealing future planning and initiatives being implemented by the board, the successes from the last few months, and we will be electing Directors to the Board for 2021/2022.

Sudbury Design Awards: Clarity

The Sudbury Design Society presents the Sudbury Design Awards: Clarity. This biennial exhibition displays the best in student and professional work across Greater Sudbury’s creative industries. Submissions are open to Greater Sudbury residents for work created between January 1, 2019, and May 1, 2021.

In keeping with this year’s theme of clarity, entries will be judged on how effectively they communicate their message or purpose to their intended audience as well as on technical skill.

Winning entries will be featured across all SDS communication channels; each will received a physical award, along with a bound and printed Sudbury Design Award book featuring their work along with all the other winners. The book will be available for download and shipping after the awards close.

Join us at Cambrian College from 1PM - 4PM to learn the basic fundamentals of photo editing! Learners will learn how to use Pixlr, a free browser based image editing software similar to Photoshop. They will learn all about retouching and superimposing objects into photos, by putting costumes onto animals (digitally, of course!), and creating new worlds through editing different scenes (and selfies)!
